First in the Family Virtual Welcome (Summer 2023)

This annual event celebrates the success of our incoming first-generation college students and provides you with an informal opportunity to meet and connect with faculty and staff, along with new and current students all who identify as first generation. Bring your family and join us to celebrate the achievements of all first-gen students and their families before Move-In Week.

Sponsored by the Parents and Families Services Office and First in the Pack.

First in the Pack Fall Welcome Event (Fall 2023)

NC State celebrates incoming first-generation college students for being mavericks improving the lives of not only themselves but for their families, communities, and the state of North Carolina.

Students will receive a “First in the Pack” pin and a tour of the Bell Tower. First-generation administrators, faculty, staff, and alumni are invited to the event to network, make connections, and celebrate the students in attendance.

Nav1Gate Summit (Fall 2023)

Nav1Gate Summit is a free professional development workshop for incoming first-year and transfer first-generation college students, designed to support students in building plans for success at NC State. Participants will complete a strengths inventory; learn about channeling their individual strengths; connect with other first-gen students and staff members, and develop goals for their time at NC State.

First in the Pack Student Celebration Day (Fall 2023)

Come leave your mark and celebrate the legacy first-generation students make on our campus! In honor of the national First-Generation College Celebration Day on November 8, all NC State first-generation college students are invited to participate in painting a mural on the Free Expression Tunnel. Giveaways and paint supplies are provided at this drop-in event.
